We at Moore & Taber have developed this website in part as a means of communicating with the professional, academic and practitioner community, and encourage authors to reference portions of this site as appropriate. We do ask, however, that the author cite the web reference in their document. An example of one way to cite this type of reference is provided. Authors may find a great deal of useful information, provided on the ASCE Publications Journals Page (ASCE, 2003). One way to cite a web reference is shown in the following example. The general format was obtained from Dickert (2002). This example shows one way to cite a reference for the page currently being browsed:
In the above example, the author is indicated as "Moore & Taber", followed by the publication date. In the absence of a date of publication in the body of the text itself, the most recent copyright was cited. The title "Citing References" was obtained from the top of the page, in the page banner. In this case, the title does match the "Title" html tag in the page's source code, and no further refinement is necessary. Next, the url is cited in its full format. This is typically displayed in the browser's "location" line. Finally, the date the author browsed the page is displayed ">(April 6, 2003)". For more information on citing references in general, you may want to refer to the "ASCE Author's Guidelines to Publishing" (ASCE, 2003), although a citation's ultimate style should be in accordance with the specific publication's guidelines.
